Eduard Douwes Dekker (2 March 1820 – 19 February 1887), better known by his pen name Multatuli (from Latin multa tulÄ«, "I have suffered much"), was a Dutch writer best known for his satirical novel Max Havelaar (1860), which denounced the abuses of colonialism in the Dutch East Indies (today's Indonesia). He is considered one of the Netherlands' greatest authors. Background In 1830 the Netherlands introduced the Culture System in an attempt to optimize the proceeds from the colonies. Farmers in the Dutch East Indies, especially in Java, had to plant one fifth of their land with predetermined products from that moment on. The proceeds then went to the government. This Culture System was very lucrative for the Netherlands. Bandung Geological Museum

During the Dutch Colonial Period the existence of the Geological Museum is closely related to the history of geological and mining research and investigations in the archipelago that began in the mid-17th century by European experts. After industrial revolution in Europe in the mid-18th century, Europe was in desperate need of mining materials as an industrial base material. The Dutch government was aware of the importance of mastering minerals in the archipelago. Through this, it is expected that the development of industry in the Netherlands can be supported. In 1850, Dienst van het Mijnwezen (Department of Mining)  was formed. This institution was renamed Dienst van den Mijnbouw in 1922, which was tasked with conducting geological and mineral resource investigations. Bosscha Observatory

Bosscha Observatory is a research institution under the auspices of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Bandung Institute of Technology (FMIPA ITB). Until now, Bosscha Observatory is the only major observatory in Indonesia. Together with the Astronomy Study Program, FMIPA ITB, the Bosscha Observatory is the center of research, education, and development of Astronomy in Indonesia.

Postal Museum Indonesia

The Indonesian Postal Museum was established since the Dutch East Indies period, known as  Postal Telegraph and Telephone (PTT) . In 1931 the PTT Museum opened in the lower right wing of the PTT Head Office Building, Jalan Cilaki, number 55, Bandung, (now number 73). This building is actually the east wing of the central government building of West Java Province which is more famous for Gedung Sate . September 27, 1983, the Minister of Tourism, Post and Telecommunications inaugurated PTT to become the Pos Indonesia Museum .
